Watercolour mongery

Hello again;

I’m still very far from where I’d like to be and still learning about watercolours.

However, I’ve found some gadgets useful for my experiments, and maybe they can help someone else.

(Feel free to skip this post if you are looking for technical advice: I’m just fumbling my way at the moment)

Fear of looking foolish

Hello again;

I’ve always had a difficult relationship with watercolours: I find them tricky. They require planning, lots of time waiting for paint to dry and technical knowledge about the way they’ll behave on different papers. Continue reading »

Bathroom sink

Hello again;

bathroom sink sketch

I’ve been working on a few experiments with watercolours lately and I was planning to share them soon. However, life’s been busy and they’ll have to wait until I get some more works finished. Continue reading »

Doors

Hello again;

I’ve been busy lately but I had some drawings already done.

Green

Hello again;

I thought life would be different after I finished my course, but things can take longer than we plan. On the other hand, though, I’ve had lots of time to draw and fill my sketchbooks. I even spent time at my local park, soaking in the colours (mostly green, as you can see). Continue reading »

Waste not

Hello again;

I recently met with a friend from my course. She told me she was planning on using her growing portfolio of drawings to make new sketchbooks. I said that was a brilliant idea, had she seen my posts about it? Continue reading »

Drawing techniques

I know, it’s spooky: Those feminist books I keep mentioning on my blog and I keep procrastinating about. I think it’s because they were tough to read, the topics were too poignant and they made me feel sad, indignant, upset… Continue reading »

Lounge sketches

Hello again;

I don’t have much to share today. But I have been looking at my drawings, noticing how my collection is growing.

I thought it would be fun to make a video with some of them.

Before you watch it beware:

Idle times

Hello again;

When I was attending my recent course I used to draw at lunch time.

It was a useful routine, because it helped me build up a habit.

I have developed another habit recently: I like to draw during idle times: Times waiting for food to cook, for software updates to download. Times when I’m in the middle of doing something and I am losing focus. I have learned that if I turn to drawing my motivation usually comes back. Continue reading »
