Pentel color brush (minus the ink) review. Part 2.
A gorgeous view of Lawrie Park Avenue and St Bartholomew's church. Still experimenting.

Pentel color brush (minus the ink) review. Part 2.

Hi again;

I’ve spoken about them before. I’ve praised the design, the fine-tuned mechanism inside, the way the flow can be controlled… and I’ve moaned about the ink they come with.

I thought I’d wait and use up the ink before re-using the brushes for something else…. But the days are getting longer and the light invites me to go outdoors and sketch.

So I emptied my Pentel color brushes (saving the ink for later) and refilled them with water.

(This is where I learned the technique)

And off I went to experiment.

I now can get all ranges of flow with the one brush: from dry strokes to generous washes, just by squeezing the barrel, or by drying the tip with a tissue. I can touch the tip of a watercolour pencil and get strong pigmented effects, or mix them on palette, or do washes… it seems I can do it all!

Quite happy about that, actually.

These are the results:

Thanks for reading this.
